The Magnuson Athletic Club is very excited to welcome The Brooks Beasts Track Club to our facility! This group of elite runners from all over the nation will be training at the MAC for their upcoming races and are coached by Olympic Trials qualifier Danny Mackey. Brooks is a running store in the Seattle area and they partnered with Mackey to develop this world-class team of middle-distance runners in 2013. Here’s what Coach Mackey had to say:

“The Beasts formed in 2013 when Brooks Sports took the initiative to start a professional track team based in Seattle, which is where the Brooks Sports global headquarters are located. Brooks Sports has been in business for over 100 years and is focused on running and improved health. The Beasts represent that model and can educate and inspire others to get out the door.

Our mission statement: The Brooks Beasts are a professional men’s and women’s track team dedicated to placing athletes on US Championship podiums, winning World and Olympic medals, growing new fans, and providing inspiration and education to health and wellness both nationally and internationally.

Currently we have 13 athletes, 7 men, 8 women, on the roster and they race the 800 meters up to 10,000 meters. This next year we will be preparing for the World Championships which are hosted in London in August. Preparation will include racing here in Seattle, and through the US until July when we will head to Europe to compete in that international series.

We are excited to be working out at the MAC because they have a world class facility and are perfectly located in Magnuson Park. The MAC space is big, bright and the equipment is great (everything a professional athlete needs), the staff was supportive immediately. Given we train on the Burke or in Magnuson a few days a week so it made sense right away.”

Training for the Olympics is a full-time job and this dynamic group of young athletes already have a wide range of accomplishments from National Championships and NCAA records to trips to the Olympics. Keep your eyes peeled for their trademark fluorescent yellow training gear around the club and be sure to follow their future careers!
