Massage Descriptions
This is the classic massage style and is a whole-body massage treatment. It involves long, fluid strokes of muscles and tissues with pressure that varies from light to medium to firm.
Developed to help athletes prepare and recover from training and performing. It will help you train more effectively, improve performance, prevent injury and speed recovery after strenuous exertion. You can keep your gym clothes on for this type of massage that involves passive stretching, compression and deep tissue work.
Called the “yoga for lazy people,” Thai massage is a form of therapeutic touch and stretching combined with acupressure. Instead of a massage table, you lie on a mat on the floor while the provider manipulates body into yoga poses and other stretches to stimulate organs and improve flexibility. Thai massage is part of traditional Thai medicine. You should wear loose fitting clothes for this session.
Similar to Swedish massage but with a deep tissue massage, your therapist applies slow, firm pressure to release muscle tension. The focus is on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons, and fascia (the protective layer surrounding muscles, bones and joints).
Lomi Lomi is a traditional Hawaiian massage that uses a combination of massage techniques, oils, and breathing to restore energy and soothe the body. It is also known as the ‘loving hands’ massage. This name helps to explain its principles – the massage works gently yet deeply into the muscles with continuous, flowing strokes, allowing the recipient to relax and give in to the nurturing touch. Lomi Lomi can be combined with Swedish massage.
Reiki is a form of energy healing from Japan based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into your body through her hands and activate the natural healing elements in the your body. It is used to restore physical and emotional well-being. Reiki can be booked as a session or combined with massage.
Similar to Thai massage, passive stretching helps you go deeper into stretches while you relax your body. Your therapist will use a vibrating massage tool to relieve tension in your body. The stretching will be done on the massage table, but you will keep your gym clothes (or any loose fitting clothes) on. Minimum to no oil will be used, depending on what is needed.
